The Bar

Architectural and Functional Design

The bar was my senior independent project.   The intent was to create a sculptural form that also functioned as a piece of interior architecture.

  • The sculpture had to meet practical considerations such as having adequate flat surfaces to place glasses.  It needed to fit a particular architectural space with close tolerances.   And it had to be able to be broken down and reassembled for transport.

To meet this final requirement, the 12′ long sculpture was constructed as three interlocking sections.  It is now located in Claremont, New Hampshire.
